Sunday Lunch at Al Dente Trattoria again

Monday, July 16, 2007
We made our way down to Al Dente Trattoria again to rectify the bill. The manager, Mark was very apologetic and explained that the billing error was due to the update in the menu prices. Apparently, the restaurant is rolling out a new menu next week, with a more extensive menu and lower prices. Mark then invited us to have lunch as a way of apology from the restaurant. We were served the same mushroom soup and 2 servings of hawaiian pizza. The mushroom soup and pizza tasted much better today, maybe because the food was served hot. When I thanked Mark for the lunch, he said he hoped that we will patronize the restaurant again as food and service will improve. Kudos to Mark for his attentive service today, we really appreciate the kind gesture in offering the four of us lunch on the house. Will we visit the restaurant again? Probably not as the food is not fantastic and on a busy night, service can be slow and erratic. Plus on special occassions like fireworks festival and NDP, only a set menu is available for $75 and $150 per head!

Headed down to Paulaner's for a beer as the weather was really hot. We ordered 0.5 litre of the Munich Dark and 0.3 litre of the Munich Lager. The beer was one for one during happy hours from 2-8 pm on Sundays and Mondays. Then to Carrefour where we bought 12 bottles of wine ( Italian, Spanish, Argentinian and French) to replenish the cellar at home.

Cooked my homemade burgers and oven baked potato chips for dinner. (recipe from Jamie's dinners by Jamie Oliver page 6) This was a much more satisfying meal, paired with a full bodied 2006 Malbec from Argentina ( offer price at $19.50 from Carrefour).
